Dear Parents/Guardians
School Apparel Code for 2006-2007
The Local School Council has adopted several changes to the existing apparel code, effective September 5, 2006. The school apparel code is a requirement of every student attending Saucedo Scholastic Academy. Our school apparel code has consisted of a clean, solid white top (blouse or shirt) and solid dark blue/ navy blue bottom (pants or skirt). Tops or bottoms with designs, pictures, logos or slogans are not acceptable attire. The following additions have been made to support the apparel code;
- Shirts and blouses must be collared
- Only white undershirts are allowed under the collared shirt (no colored t-shirts)
- Dark shoes (no gym shoes)
- Dark blue or navy blue pants or skirts (no jeans)
- Red criss cross tie for girls (Gr. KDG to 5th )
- Red tie for girls (Gr. 6-8)
- Navy blue tie for boys (Gr. KDG to 8th)
In addition to these changes, male students will not be allowed to wear earrings and the wearing of facial jewelry is prohibited during the school day for both males and females.
Warm Weather Guidelines (includes summer school); (previously adopted by LSC)
After June 1st, or during extreme weather, the following guidelines will be in effect;
- Students will be permitted to wear solid dark blue/ navy blue knee length shorts and solid white shirts
- (no tank tops or halter tops)
- Shirts or pants with designs, pictures, logos or slogans other than the Saucedo logo, are not acceptable attire
Cold Weather Guidelines; (recently adopted by LSC)
After Oct. 1st or during extreme weather, the following guidelines will be in effect;
- Students will be permitted to wear solid dark blue or navy blue sweaters or sweatshirts (no hooded sweatshirts allowed) over white shirts with collars or white turtlenecks
- Students may not wear and type of outwear (jackets/ coats) in the school building during the school day regardless of the color of the garment
Students not in compliance with the apparel code will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Uniform Discipline Code.If you have any questions or may experience any difficulty in complying with the apparel code, you may contact

Maria Saucedo Academy Rules and Regulations
In order to maintain our high standard of excellence for our students and our school, every student is asked to respect and follow the rules of order and discipline listed below:
- Students are to report to school on time (classes begin at 9:00 a.m.). Students who are tardy MUST bring a note from a parent/guardian on the day following the tardiness.
- Students are expected to be in school every day. If illness or extreme family emergency causes an absence, a note must be brought on the day following the absence. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain missed class work.
- Absences due to family vacations are NOT EXCUSED absences. Make-up work will NOT be given for these absences.
- All students are expected to come prepared for work each day with needed supplies, properly covered books, and a book bag. Please check supplies throughout the school year and replenish as necessary. Books are to remain covered throughout the school year.
- Students are expected to conduct themselves in a quiet, orderly manner in the classrooms, corridors, washrooms, lunchroom, and school bus. Vandalism to school property and unruly, disorderly conduct will be dealt with as outlined in the Chicago Uniform Discipline Code.
- Gum chewing/eating of candy and snacks is not allowed on school premises and school bus.
- Special permission may be given by the principal for holiday room parties. Please request, in writing, the date and time of the party. Homemade goodies are not to be sent to school for class parties. Student birthday celebration will not be permitted during school hours.
- Students are responsible for personal possessions. Jewelry, money, or expensive outdoor clothing should not be brought to school. THE SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LOSS OF THESE ITEMS.
STUDENT DRESS SHOULD NEITHER BE DISRUPTIVE TO THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM NOR POSE A SAFETY HAZARD. It is expected that all students wear the school uniform daily.
